The Public Theater has announced that it will host Under the Radar 2007, a twelve-day festival that presents contemporary theater artists from across the country and around the world.

Now in its third year, Under the Radar "embraces the vitality of contemporary theater in all of its many guises: this year's extraordinary lineup features performance, playwriting, puppetry, solos, ensembles, and classics re-considered.  Located at The Public Theater and its partner theaters – 59E59, Downtown Arts, The Kitchen, and St. Ann's Warehouse – Under the Radar will offer a crash course in theater that is exciting, independent, and experimental, created by some of the most dynamic artists working today," as press materials state.

The event will be produced by Mark Russell, an independent producer/curator working in New York City. He is also the guest Artistic Director for the Portland (Oregon) Institute of Contemporary Art – Time Based Arts Festival for 2006, 2007.  From 1983-2004, Russell was the Executive Artistic Director of Performance Space 122 (P.S. 122).

The line-up will include a number of pieces presented at the Public Theater: Daniel MacIvor's A Beautiful View,  Allen Johnson's Another You, The Old Trout Puppet Workshop's Famous Puppet Death Scenes, Teatro de los Andes' En Un Sol Amarillo (Memorias de un Temblor) or In a Yellow Sun (Memories of an Earthquake), Oliver Py's Epistle to Young Actors, Mike Daisey's Invincible Summer, Anne Bogart and Darron L. West's Radio Macbeth, Lone Twin's Nine Years, Taylor Mac's The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac, Tarell McCraney's The Brothers Size, John O'Keefe's Two Songs.
