The black-tie ATA 50 gala took place at the historic Penn Club, with NYC declaring an American Theatre of Actors Day
The stars aligned on the evening of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, as the American Theatre of Actors took over the historic Penn Club to celebrate five decades of artistic revolution. Check out photos below!
The black-tie gala, titled ATA 50, marked the golden anniversary of a company that has been a cornerstone of the New York theatrical landscape since its founding in 1976. The joyous evening was immortalized by renowned New York theater photographer Dan Lane Williams of DLW Photography, who was on hand to capture the ceremony and the high-energy celebration on film. Indie Arts Executive, Jay Michaels also announced from the podium that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani proclaimed that day "American Theatre of Actors Day."
The centerpiece of the night was the presentation of Lifetime Achievement Awards to two titans of the industry: Lyle Kessler: The legendary playwright behind the masterwork Orphans; and Len Cariou: The Tony-winning icon and member of the Theatre Hall of Fame.
