TONY Award winning actor and Renaissance man Billy Porter of Kinky Boots fame, is the latest featured artist in The Creative Faces Project: an evolving portrait and interview collective celebrating artists who inspire the New York Stage. His photos and questionnaire, published Thursday May 7th, can be viewed on The Creative Faces Project website: www.thecreativefacesproject.com

"Billy is a gem. I think that every young person who wants to pursue a life in the arts should take a look at this man and his career. When people associate stardom with a performer, particularly someone who's career has predominantly been in the theatre, people of my generation and younger do not often think of the true toil, hard-work and sacrifice it took for that 'star' to reach his or her height. Billy is a 45 year old man who has been making his art for years; delving into acting, directing, recording and of course musical theatre. He is a man who embraces all he is, despite people telling him otherwise. He has had the fortune, after years of hard work, of getting to bring us Lola in Kinky Boots eight shows a week. This is a roll that allows him to utilize all that he is and, by embracing his individuality, has made his mark on musical theatre history" -Jason Zeren: Photographer and Curator of The Creative Faces Project
