Stagedoor Manor, in conjunction with their mid-summer production of HAIR, welcomed the Broadway cast of the Tony Award winning musical as their guests on Friday July 24th.

Broadway cast members such as Caissie Levy (Shelia), Kacie Sheik (Jeanie), Andrew Kober (Margaret Mead/Dad) and Paris Remillard (Tribe/Claude understudy) as well as HAIR producer Andy Sandberg spent the day with the Stagedoor as they prepared for their production. The Tribe watched the cast rehearse, talked about the show's history and impact, and joined Stagedoor students in songs from the hit musical.

In another Stagedoor twist, HAIR cast member Sasha Allen (Dionne) who was unable to visit with the kids because of a prior engagement starred in the film "Camp" based on the center.

Stagedoor Manor was founded by the Samuelson family in 1975. Together with original Artistic Director Jack Romano, they worked to create a performing arts center where kids could explore and find expression, fulfillment and tap their creative potential. Currently under the direction of Cindy Samuelson, Stagedoor Manor is frequently the subject of national profiles and newsmagazine pieces as its alumni campers become famous faces on film, television, music videos, and stages around the world. With alumni that include Zach Braff, Natalie Portman, Mandi Moore, Jon Cryer, and Bryce Dallas Howard, it's no wonder that talent agents call Stagedoor Manor "the only place of its kind in the world." Stagedoor Manor has been the subject of several film projects, including Todd Graff's independent feature, "Camp," Alexandra Shiva's 2005 documentary, "Stagedoor," and the STARZ KIDS network's featured short-segment vignettes.

The story of a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era, HAIR is a timeless portrait of a movement that changed the world. Its groundbreaking rock score paved the way for some of the greatest musicals of our time. Now, the "Age of Aquarius" dawns again in this jubilant new production, which is the winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. The Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle also recently honored the production with their 2009 award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical. Directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by Karole Armitage, HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. HAIR began preview performances on March 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, NYC) and opened to rave reviews on March 31, 2009.
