Photo Flash: First Look at New Frank Loesser Musical ANOTHER ROLL OF THE DICE at Wyoming Theater Festival
Another Roll of the Dice, the new musical by librettist Mark Saltzman that marries songs by Frank Loesser and characters created by Damon Runyon, plays Sept. 7-17 in a workshop production at Wyoming Theater Festival in Sheridan, WY. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
The new musical - a triptych of three one-act musicals, actually - is directed by Larry Sousa. The cast includes Alan Wager, Nick Ley, Megan Moran, Tito Livas, Rachel Hirshee and Gio Munguia. Betsy Ellsworth is stage manager. Jack Lipson is musical director, on piano. Benny Lipson is on bass. Seven performances play the Mars Theater, a black box within the WYO Theater in Sheridan.
Three Runyon tales from the 1930s are used for the new show: "Tobias the Terrible," "Breach of Promise" and "Baseball Hattie." Songs with lyrics and/or music by Loesser sweeten the musical, which is a sort of cousin to Guys and Dolls, the smash Loesser show that also features characters of fiction writer Damon Runyon. Mark Saltzman (Tin Pan Alley Rag, Romeo and Bernadette) wrote the libretto. Pop songs that Loesser wrote with others (Burton Lane, Hoagy Carmichael and more) surface in the show.
