The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has donated $25,000 to UNICEF Philippines to help in the long-term recovery programs for the children affected by Tropical Storm Washi, which killed nearly 2,000 people in the Southern Philippines and left tens of thousands homeless.

The association president, Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly presented the check to Darren Criss of the TV show Glee, who accepted it on behalf of UNICEF, at the association's West Hollywood offices.
"As an association we aim to give a quick response to any natural disaster around the world. This donation to UNICEF Philippines will help towards long-term efforts dedicated to children affected by Tropical Storm Washi," said Dr. Takla-O'Reilly.

The December tropical cyclone triggered flash flooding resulting in catastrophic damage to the southern Philippines and the devastation has created a huge need for humanitarian efforts in the area.
