Cast members from numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway shows took part in WOR Radio's second annual Celebrate America concert, which took place place all day at the Hofstra University Arena in Hempstead, NY on June 25th.

Entitled "A Salute to Broadway," the concert featured performers from Broadway's Jersey Boys, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, The Color Purple, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Light in the Piazza, The Lion King, Avenue Q, Rent and Sweeney Todd joining those from Off-Broadway's Altar Boyz and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. The co-hosts of the "WOR Morning Show"--Ed Walsh and Donna Hanover--served as the main co-hosts of the concert. Funds from ticket sales benefited Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Celebrate America is a "non-partisan, day-long extravaganza of exciting entertainment for the whole family. In addition to showcasing Broadway, a truly American institution, (it) honors the heart and enduring patriotic spirit of every American," state press notes.
