Photo Coverage: Old Acquaintance Opening Night
The Roundabout Theatre Company's new Broadway production of John van Druten's comedy Old Acquaintance, starring Margaret Colin as "Katharine Markham" and Tony Award-winner Harriet Harris as "Mildred Watson Drake," opened on Thursday, June 28th. Directed by Michael Wilson, the production plays the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd St).
"Old Acquaintance is a delightful drawing-room comedy about two childhood friends who have grown into very different adults. Though they are both successful authors, independent Katharine 'Kit' Markham (Colin) carries on an affair with a younger man while divorcee Mildred 'Milly' Drake (Harris) refuses to loosen the apron-strings on her teenage daughter, Deirdre (Diane Davis). But when Deirdre's struggles to become more like her idol Kit have far-reaching consequences, the two women who thought they were growing apart may have much more in common than they'd like to admit," state press notes.
The cast also includes Stephen Bogardus (Preston Drake), Corey Stoll (Rudd Kendall), Cynthia Darlow (Susan) and Gordana Rashovich (Karina).
