Photo Coverage: Lin-Manuel Miranda Portrait Unveiled At Tony's DiNapoli

On Thursday June 4th, Lin-Manuel Miranda had his very own Broadway Wall of Fame portrait unveiled at the popular theater district Italian eatery, Tony DiNapoli's. Tony DiNapoli's is located at 147 43rd Street. The hosts for the evening were radio personality Valerie Smaldone and Tony DiNapoli's General Manager, Bruce Dimpflmaier. The original oil painting was created by official Broadway Wall of Fame artist Dan May. BroadwayWorld.com's cameras were there to cheer him on along with the cast of IN THE HEIGHTS.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is the creator-composer-lyricist of IN THE HEIGHTS, winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, and a Best Leading Actor nomination for his performance as Usnavi. Other credits include Stephen Schwartz' Working (contributing composer), Freestyle Love Supreme (Co-founder/performer) TV/Film: The Electric Company, Sesame Street, The Sopranos. He worked with three of his heroes Arthur Laurents, Stephen Sondheim, and Luis Miranda on the English to Spanish lyric translations for the new Broadway revival of West Side Story.
Lin-Manuel Miranda played his final performance as "Usnavi" in his acclaimed Broadway hit, IN THE HEIGHTS on Sunday, February 15th, 2009.
IN THE HEIGHTS opened to critical acclaim, going on to win four 2008 Tony Awards (Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations), and garnering a 2008 Grammy Award nomination for the original cast album. In November, 2008, Universal Pictures acquired the rights to produce a feature film based on IN THE HEIGHTS.
