The Friars Club established the Friars Foundation in 1977 as it's charitable arm. It's mission is to help performing arts groups create excellent innovative and affordable programs for the enrichment, education, and enjoyment of diverse audiences and participants. The Foundation also helps prepare the next generation of performers and musical artists through scholarship programs for students studying the performing arts.
Some of the "Adopted Scholar" recipients were welcomed at reception at the Friars Club, and these young students expressed their heartwarming stories and appreciation to the Friars Club for their Scholarships. Adopted Scholars were from Brooklyn College, Columbia University, Hunter College, Pace University, Fordham University, New York University, and Wagner College. The students erupted in wild applause when Friars Executive Director Michael L. Gyure in his remarks, ended by inviting them all to attend the upcoming Friars Tribute to LARRY KING.
