Peter Brook has stated that he would slowly hand over his position as Stage Director with the Paris Theater. He will give his position to two young directors, Olivier Mantei and Olivier Poubelle. They will run the Bouffes du Nord, the company through which Brook has staged his famed productions. Mantei and Poubelle should hold the full position by 2011.

Some of the most memorable shows have been The Conference of the Birds, La Tragedie de Carmen, The Mahabharata, The Man Who and, Tierno Bokar.

Peter Brook took over the former music hall/variety theater in 1974. He turned the space into a place for a unique type of productions, where the presentations mix cultureal traditions.

Although he will be stepping down, Brook will not be leaving altogether, as he will continue to run a drama research center at the Bouffes du Nord.
