Pelham Bay Park Hosts 18th Annual Earth Day Celebration April 17

Pelham Bay Park's 18th Annual Earth Day Celebration held Sunday, April 17, 2011

Volunteer gardening projects, & shoreline clean-up.
12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Adult & family activities including environmental, wildlife, and nature exhibitions, performances, storytelling, arts & crafts, nature walk, and more.

LOCATION: Playground For All Children,
Pelham Bay Park, The Bronx
(Enter the park at Middletown Road off Bruckner Boulevard,
Exit 7C off I-95N and head north 3 blocks to Middletown Rd.)

DETAILS: Give back to the planet at EarthFest, an annual free Earth Day celebration taking place at Pelham Bay Park on Sunday, April 17. Morning volunteer projects begin at 10 a.m. where you can join your fellow park-lovers in gardening tasks or cleaning up along the park's shoreline.

At noon, the festivities begin at the park's Playground for All Children. Learn how you and your family can personally help preserve our environment by visiting tables with environmental displays and hands-on activities from such groups as Norwalk Maritime Aquarium, and Hutchinson River Restoration Project. Enjoy performances by Music with Patrick, an earth friendly puppet-show by Talking Hands Theatre and an educational program with reptilian friends by Snakes n Scales and Turtle Tales.

EarthFest is sponsored by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and the Friends of Pelham Bay Park.
