Casting has been announced for Rick Crom's satirical NEWsical the Musical; the show will run at the Provincetown Theater (238 Bradford Street, Provincetown) in Massachusetts from August 23rd to September 4th.

The show will star Kate Pazakis, Trisha Rapier, Edward Staudenmayer and Jamison Stern. Pazakis, a Cape Cod native, was showcased in her hit one-woman show The Sexless Years Off-Broadway. She has contributed to several Broadway concerts and special events, including Pippin and the Gypsy of the Year Awards and has appeared off-Broadway in Dressing Room, Divas I've Done, and Rosie's Broadway Belters. Rapier's New York credits include Broadway's The Boy From Oz and Off-Broadway's Golf, the Musical and Forbidden Broadway. She has toured nationally in Tommy.

Staudenmayer toured in Disney's Beauty and the Beast playing Gaston (National Theater Award nominee), Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,The Scarlet Pimpernel. Other New York credits include Jane Eyre and Exactly Like You. Stern starred in the one-man play Fully Committed both in Los Angeles and Houston. Broadway credits include Andrew Lloyd Webber's By Jeeves, and regionally, he has appeared in Little Shop of Horrors and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.

Directed by Donna Drake (Boobs the Musical) and produced by Fred M. Caruso, the show features music and lyrics by Crom and was nominated for Best Revue and Best Lyrics in its original Broadway run.

NEWsical "is a throwback to the kind of political satire on stage that was once as prevalent as it is in film and television today. Heralded as 'The Ever-Changing New Topical Musical Comedy,' NEWsical
plucks its material from the wealth of current events (The Runaway Bride, Hillary Clinton, GITMO, George W.) and constant headliners (Michael Jackson, Martha Stewart, Babs, Liza, and well, George W.). The evolving work features updated songs and material that changes with the news," state the show's production notes. Ed Goldschneider (Urinetown) will provide the music direction while David Kaley is the costume designer.

NEWsical's performance schedule is Tuesdays to Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 7:00pm & 10:00pm and Sundays at 8:00pm. Tickets are $31 in advance, $36 at the door, and are available at all PtownTix locations (209 Commercial Street and 238 Bradford Street), by calling PtownTix at (508) 487-9793 or online at www.ptowntix.com.
