Pasek and Paul's Edges to be Performed at Duplex July 6-7

Michael Munoz announced today that Edges, a work by up and coming musical theatre writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, will be performed in its entirety at the Duplex on Christopher Street on Thursday and Friday, July 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. This is only the second time it has been performed in its entirety in New York City.

Edges is a new song cycle that tracks four distinct characters who feel stifled by a world in which they are not challenged to truly know themselves. They have succumbed to the definitions that they are forced into by their social surroundings. These definitions allow them only to partially invest in finding out what would really fulfill them. As we witness the pivotal moments in their lives, we see them question whether they are simply stuck being who others want them to be, or whether they can indeed break through to discover their own potential.

Adam Dietz, Janine Mercandetti, Anne Montavon and Michael Munoz will play the characters in the show. The cast, much the like the characters, are young actors in their twenties struggling with similar life changing questions. This production of Edges is produced by Incognito Superstar Productions (ISP). ISP was created by Michael Munoz to support and help new acting/singing, and composing talent. ISP will soon hopefully become an important part of NYC's theatre community by providing this talent with an outlet and the means to get their voices and works out to the public.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are a new writing team quickly emerging as a fresh voice in contemporary Musical Theatre. They met as freshman Musical Theatre majors at the University of Michigan, and soon after, began writing songs. In Spring of 2005, Pasek and Paul wrote a revue of their work entitled Edges. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have been recently recognized by Playbill.com for their up coming Uncharted series to be performed mid-July with such notable names as Eden Espinosa, Jesse Nager and Todd Buonopane. Pasek and Paul have been steadily on the rise in New York City with many cabaret concerts performed at Joe's Pub and now their full length review Edges.
