PIT OF HOPE Will Make World Premiere at Hollywood Fringe Festival
Vince Tula's new play will run at The Broadwater Second Stage in Los Angeles
"Pit of Hope", a new play written and directed by Vince Tula, from producer Robert Keasler and associate producer Briana León, will be making its world-premiere at the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Performances will run June 5-24.
Set in Los Angeles during the summer of 2025, the play is a story of survival through the eyes of a pit bull who is thrown into the LA Animal Shelter system after his family is taken by ICE. Two actors embody pit bulls to reveal something deeply human: what it means to hold onto hope when all is lost.
"Last summer, a black pit bull named Nueve was surrendered by his migrant owner out of fear of deportation. There's a play in that. I wanted actors to play the dogs because it's heartfelt and hilarious." says writer/director Vince Tula.
"Pit of Hope is a direct reflection of what's happening to my people, your neighbors, and the ripple effects of immigration enforcement and animal shelter overcrowding." says Ulysses Montoya*, who plays Nueve.
The play features an ensemble cast of five actors: K Cody Hunt, Mike Mihm*, Ulysses Montoya*, Christian Wienker and Rachel Zapata.
*These actors are appearing courtesy of Actor's Equity Association. This production is being presented under the auspices of the Actor's Equity Association Los Angeles Self Produced Project Code.
