For over twenty-two years, United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has had to make important decisions regarding controversial issues that affect the nation.

But the decision to take in a performance of Signature Theatre's hit revival of WEST SIDE STORY was surely a no-brainer.

Directed by Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (Signature's SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, CABARET) the D.C. area's hot ticket runs through January 31, 2016 at Signature's intimate MAX Theatre. Visit sigtheatre.org.

After the show, the justice nicknamed by her admirers as "The Notorious R.B.G." posed with the entire cast, demonstrating support for both Jets and Sharks.

In a private moment with Signature's Anita, Helen Hayes Award winner Natascia Diaz, the justice admits to being a big fan of her father, Puerto Rican opera star Justino Díaz. The proud daughter admits to being a big fan of Bader's voting record on women's issues.

WEST SIDE STORY, a collaboration of music, dance and theater giants Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Robbins and Arthur Laurents, is considered by some to be one of the greatest musicals of all time.

The Signature Theatre production stars MaryJoanna Grisso (WEST SIDE STORY, US National Tour) as Maria, Austin Colby (Signature's SIMPLY SONDHEIM, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, US National Tour) as Tony, Sean Ewing (Broadway's WEST SIDE STORY, AMAZING GRACE) as Bernardo and Max Clayton (Broadway's ON THE TOWN, GIGI) as Riff. Helen Hayes Award winner Natascia Diaz (Signature's THE THREEPENNY OPERA, St. Louis MUNY's WEST SIDE STORY) returns to the role of Anita. Diaz was previously heralded as "a worthy successor to Chita Rivera" by the Los Angeles Times.
