As part of the "Evolve" theater series, the  comic noir thriller Rip Me Open will receive its world premiere at the Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The show will run throughout the month of April playing every Friday of the month - April 7, 14, 21, 28 - at 8:00 PM.

"She's a private dick who's seen it all. He's a blonde bombshell waiting to explode. In this filthy, lonely city, some secrets just can't stay hidden. Rip Me Open follows two wise-cracking, desperate souls as they investigate a strange sexual act in a case of threatened violence and psychosexual intrigue. Drawing on influences ranging from classic film noir to Dennis Cooper and Haruki Murakami, it combines pulse-pounding mystery with crackling comedic dialogue and several original songs," according to press notes. Desiree Burch and Michael Cyril Creighton star in Rip Me Open, which was created and developed collaboratively with director Brian Mullin and OBIE Award-winning playwright Kyle Jarrow.

"These four multi-disciplinary artists created Rip Me Open using techniques from improv comedy and company-based avant-garde theater, crafting characters specifically for Burch and Creighton to play in a creation style is much akin to that currently practiced by such downtown companies as The Civilians and The National Theater of the United States of America."

Jarrow penned the Off- and Off-Off-Broadway shows A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant (2004 OBIE Award), Gorilla Man (P.S. 122 2005 season, soon to be published by Samuel French), Armless (Best of the NY Fringe Festival 2004), and President Harding is a Rock Star among others. His work has been performed at The John Houseman Theater, P.S. 122, HERE Art Center, The Ohio Theater, The Hangar Theater, Boston Theatre Works and Dad's Garage in Atlanta among others.

Burch is a monologuist, comedian, writer, and actress as well as being a New York NeoFuturist and host/co-curator of the Smut Reading and Performance series at Galapagos. She has performed at the the Marquee, Manhattan Theatre Source, the Tank, CenterStage NY, P.S. 122, in Dixon Place's HOT! Festival, Seattle's Mae West Fest and in the New York International Fringe Festival, as well as at major comedy clubs throughout New York City.

Creighton's solo show The Hermitage of an Exiled Chain Smoker was seen in the 2003 NY International Fringe Festival and later extended at the Arthur Seelan Theater. Other Fringe credits include The Burden of Sunflowers. He has been seen in numerous regional productions of plays, and film work includes the independent feature Fake ID as well as the shorts Happy Days and Cotton Candy (finalist for the 2005 Kurosawa Short Film Competition).

Mullin is an award-winning writer/director whose work has been presented by the Lincoln Center Directors Lab, Lynx Ensemble Theater, the National Student Drama Festival of Great Britain, and the Oxford University New Writing Festival. He works extensively with the All Stars Project's Youth Onstage! division, where he directs the New Voices reading series and is a founding faculty member of the Community Performance School.
