Variety is reporting that actress Cynthia Nixon will be joining the cast of the British Commercial Web ITV's drama "An Englishman in New York." The show will be a follow-up to the 1975 film The Naked Civil Servent. Nixon will reportedly play "Penny Arcade", an actress and playwright.

John Hurt will reprise his role as Quentin Crisp and will be joined by Patrick Angus, Jonathan Tucker, Swoozie Kurtz and Connie Clauson.

"Produced by U.K. independent shingle Leopard Films, the film follows Crisp's move to New York in the early 80s, where the gay writer and raconteur was embraced by celebrities and artists, including Penny Arcade," states Variety.

The film, written by Brian Fillis and directed by Richard Laxton, is being shot in New York and London and is being produced by Amanda Jenks.
