Newly Revised 'Girl Gang' Kicks into NYMF 9/22

Angry Girl Gang Productions will present a newly revised production of the acclaimed musical Girl Gang at The Atlantic Stage 2; previews begin September 22, opening September 24.

The show received two Los Angeles Artistic Director Achievement Awards for Best Book, Music & Lyrics, and Best Ensemble and became critical hit and audience favorite when it played the Lucille Lortel Theatre during FringeNYC 2004. The current production is General Partner Event with the fourth annual New York Musical Theatre Festival.

"This slice of 1950s American juvenile delinquency offers a darkly comic twist to the teen pulp-fiction genre. Follow DiDi, a clean teen looking to escape her sordid home life, down a path of infamy and eventual redemption in a reform school with other girls gone wild.  See our big city's delinquent daughters headed for the juvenile justice system's underworld, singing and swinging their way through hell! Parents may be shocked, but youth will understand," explain press notes.

Girl Gang features music & lyrics by David G. Smith, and book & direction by Mark W. Knowles. It stars Jodie Bentley, Jaye Maynard, Marnie Baumer, Richard Butler, Dan Campbell, Jen Kays, Kathleen O'Regan, Amy Russ and Mark W. Knowles.  The production is rounded-out by a live band, musical direction and arrangements provided by Matt Davis & David Nielson, and band members Ritt Henn and Joe Trevino.

Girl Gang runs the following schedule: Saturday September 22 at 8:30PM; Sunday September 23 at 8PM; Monday September 24 at 6:30PM; Wednesday September 26 at 3 & 8PM; Thursday September 27 at 8PM; Friday September 28 at 7 & 10PM; Saturday September 29 at 8PM; and Sunday September 30 at 3PM
