New Georges will present a revival reading of its 2008 hit show HILLARY: A MODERN GREEK TRAGEDY WITH A (SOMEWHAT) HAPPY ENDING by Wendy Weiner and directed by Julie Kramer, as part of The Spree, a progressive festivity to benefit New Georges. The special one night only benefit reading will take place on Monday, September 28 at Five Angels Theatre at the 52nd Street Project (789 10th Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets). The reading will be at 7:30pm, with pre-show cocktails beginning at 6pm. Tickets ($25-$100) are available online at www.newgeorges.org.

Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, and Aphrodite, the goddess of love, have been at war since time immemorial. When a young girl named Hillary Rodham devotes herself to Athena alone- spurning romance, make-up and attractive hairstyles-Aphrodite takes revenge, having her fall in love with a man of mythical charm and appetites: Bill Clinton.

The reading will feature original cast members Heidi Armbruster (TV Land's Younger; Disgraced with LCT3), Mia Barron (Domesticated with Lincoln Center; The Devil You Know with HBO), Victoire Charles, Jorge Cordova (Family Play at CollaborationTown/New Ohio), Charlie Hudson III (Raisin in the Sun on Broadway; Father Comes Home from the Wars at ART), Jenny Mercein (X's and O's: A Football Love Story at Berkeley Rep/Center Stage), and Darren Pettie (AMC's Mad Men; Dinner With Friends with Roundabout) with Hillary newcomer Christen Clifford.

New Georges originally workshopped Hillary at The Public Theater in 2007, just as Hillary Clinton was hitting her early primaries stride, and produced it in a sold-out run at The Living Theatre in late 2008, just as President-elect Barack Obama nominated her for Secretary of State.

"I usually hesitate around plays about such public figures," says Producing Artistic Director Susan Bernfield, "but Wendy's play uses surprising theatrical means to get at something deep in the Clintons we recognize. It's remarkably observant, hilarious yet compassionate, and Mia and Darren are priceless as the Clintons. My friends are still talking about it, and we couldn't resist bringing it back during Hillary's new campaign."
