National YoungArts Foundation Announces 2018 Young Actors To Watch

The National YoungArts Foundation has announced its list of 2018 actors to watch. On Tuesday, January 9, 21 up-and-coming thespians performed for audiences at New World Center in Miami as part of National YoungArts Week. These extraordinarily talented artists have been named 2018 YoungArts Finalists-one of the nation's most prestigious awards for aspiring artists 15 to 18 years old.

YoungArts voice alumni have gone on to become Oscar, Emmy, Golden-Globe and Tony award winning actors including Viola Davis, Raúl Esparza, Josh Groban Anna Gunn, Billy Porter, Andrew Rannells and Kerry Washington, to name a few.

2018 standout performances included:

  • Willem Butler from Huntsville, AL
  • Christopher Jensen from Los Angeles, CA
  • Amanda Gross from Midland, PA
  • Ishmael Gonzalez from Miami, FL
  • Jenna Giordano Medford, NJ
  • Emir Price from Dallas, TX
  • Joshua Wyatt from Houston, TX
  • Liam Oh from Winnetka, IL
  • Elena Gonzalez from Miami, FL
  • Maya Lagerstam from Interlochen, MI

Throughout YoungArts Week (Jan 7 - 14) 21 theater finalists will learn from master teachers including Tony nominee and Audience Choice Award winner Santino Fontana, Academy Award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, and award-winning actress, singer and stage director Phylicia Rashad.
