Due to unprecedented audience demand, National Theatre Live and Fathom will present special encore screenings of The National Theatre of Great Britain's acclaimed Olivier Award winning production of FRANKENSTEIN, a play by Nick Dear based on Mary Shelley's novel. The production stars Olivier Award winners Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, and directed by Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle, in select cinemas worldwide this week, October 27 & 29, 2014. Watch the trailer below!

In the New York City area, screenings will be held at AMC Empire 25 with IMAX, Kips Bay 15 with IMAX, Union Square Stadium 14 and Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. National Theatre Live can be seen at cinemas screens throughout North America.

The production was a sell-out hit at the National Theatre in 2011, and the broadcast has since become an international sensation, experienced by almost half a million people in cinemas around the world. In this new adaptation, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternated in the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. National Theatre Live filmed FRANKENSTEIN twice so audiences could experience Cumberbatch and Miller in each role.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller shared both the Olivier Award and London Evening Standard Award for Best Actor for their respective performances. The production won Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for Best Actor (Cumberbatch) and Best Design (Mark Tildesley). Danny Boyle received the What's on Stage Award for Best Director.

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein's bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale.

The production will screen tonight, October 27, 2014 and Wednesday, October 29, 2014 (with many encore dates in U.S. cities). Ticket prices vary by venue. Contact local venues for ticket information.
