NEWSREVUE to Make Edinburgh Fringe Debut at Pleasance One in 47th Year

NEWSREVUE will make its Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut at Pleasance One as the long-running satirical comedy show celebrates its 47th year.

Known for its fast-paced blend of sketches, parody songs, and political satire, the production returns with an entirely new edition tackling contemporary news stories and cultural trends. Topics this year include politics, artificial intelligence, health trends, and current events from around the world.

The cast features Kitty McNeill, Kathryn Pridgeon, Michael Stafford Wells, and Will Usherwood-Bliss, with Harry Gascoigne serving as musical director.

Director and co-writer Heather Kirk said, “In the current, bleak political climate, this show provides an opportunity to find some joy and an outlet for people amid the chaos. An hour of political satire sketches and songs has never felt more relevant and I'm thrilled to be at the helm.”

Producer Emma Taylor, who is marking her 25th year with the production, added, “I can't quite believe I've been producing this glorious, everchanging yet evergreen show for 25 years. To this day I receive heartfelt cards of gratitude from new members for the experience of working on NewsRevue and messages from people who did it years ago who met partners and best friends thanks to the show.”

Over nearly five decades, NEWSREVUE has served as an early career platform for numerous British comedians and performers, including Bill Bailey, Bridget Christie, Sara Pascoe, Gemma Whelan, Cariad Lloyd, and Reece Shearsmith.

The production continues its tradition of creating entirely new material each year, drawing inspiration from current headlines and political developments while maintaining its focus on topical comedy and musical satire.

The Guardian described the production as "continuing to reign supreme," while The Skinny called it "spectacularly funny and fast-paced commentary on current affairs."
