Jordan will play a Brooklyn singer with a self-destructive streak, alongside two more newcomers in the roles of Joe and Courtney, which have yet to be cast. Jaime Cepero (Ellis), Raza Jaffrey (Dev) and Brian d'Arcy James (Frank), are departing the show.

Jordan will continue to take the Broadway stage each night in NEWSIES during his SMASH run. This year, Jordan was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Jack Kelly in the Broadway musical, which he began with Paper Mill Playhouse's U.S. touring production in 2011. Jordan has also appeared in Broadway's Bonnie & Clyde in 2011, as well as Rock of Ages and West Side Story in 2009. He guest-starred on Law & Order: SVU in 2008 and appeared in the film Joyful Noise.

From Universal Television in association with DreamWorks Television, "Smash" stemmed from an idea of executive producer and multiple Emmy and Oscar winner Steven Spielberg ("ER," "Schindler's List"). The series' executive producers also include Joshua Safran ("Gossip Girl"), Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Oscar-winning "Chicago," "Hairspray"), Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey ("United States of Tara," "The Borgias"), Tony and Grammy Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman ("Hairspray," "Catch Me If You Can") and Theresa Rebeck ("Mauritius," "NYPD Blue").
