The York Theatre Company and Marymount Manhattan will present Marymount at the York Theatre, a five-week musical theatre intensive, from May 23 through June 27, at the York Theatre at Citigroup Center, 619 Lexington Avenue (at 54th Street). This is the second year for the program.

Marymount Manhattan, a college of the liberal arts with a premier performing arts program in New York City, is partnering with Off-Broadway's award-winning York Theatre Company, known for developing and producing new musical theatre, in a unique intensive training opportunity for individuals aged 18 - 27.

Participants will explore and perform new musical theatre compositions by emerging writers whose work has been featured at the York. Seminars with musical theatre professionals will be a unique feature of the program. Students will have the opportunity to see musicals on and off Broadway and to perform at the Oscar Hammerstein Award gala dinner given annually by the York Company. In addition, daily structured classes in dance and performance technique will enhance students' technical skills. The Intensive will culminate in a performance of an original musical revue on stage at the York.

The cost of the program is $2150 (non-credit). Students may obtain housing in a New York City dormitory for an additional fee by contacting http://www.studenthousing.org (not affiliated with Marymount). There is some housing available at the Vanderbilt Y @ $25.00 a night.

Applications are due by April 8, 2005 and should be sent to Patricia Simon, Musical Theatre Intensive, Department of Theatre Arts, Marymount Manhattan College, 221 E. 71st Street, New York, NY 10021. Applications should include a photo, resume and video or audiotape of student singing an up-tempo selection and a ballad from the music theatre repertoire along with email or permanent address and phone number. Notifications of acceptance will be e-mailed by April 19.
