On Sunday, February 10 2008 at 12:30 pm Musical Mondays honors songwriter Ervin Drake and his wife Edith ( the 'Love Couple' ) at a Luncheon and Silent Auction at Sardi's.

If you don't know his name, you know his songs: "Good Morning Heartache," "Tico-Tico," "It Was a Very Good Year, I Believe, 450 more plus the scores to "What Makes Sammy Run" and "Her First Roman." One of his latest WHO ARE THESE STRANGERS was recorded by Michael Feinstein.

Some of the performers scheduled to appear and perform include: Marc Kudisch, Ron Raines, Christine Pedi, Karen Saunders, Steve Ross, KT Sullivan, WOR's Joey Reynolds (to toast, roast and who knows what else ?) and some surprise guests. Be there when the Songwriter's Guild presents their Special Recognition Award to Ervin Drake.

Musical Mondays Theatre Lab

Founded by Bick Goss, Musical Mondays Theatre Lab, a not for profit 501 (c) corporation, enters its tenth season developing new works for the musical theatre. MMTL has been active with the New York Musical Theatre Festival since their inception, producing Shorts, which the New York Times proclaimed "witty, poignant and lusty." MMTL presented initial readings of three musicals which received the BMI Foundation Jerry Bock Award, personally chosen by the Pulitzer and Tony Award Winning composer: See Rock City...And Other Destinations, Dinner At Eight and Calvin Berger, winner of the 2007 Richard Rodgers Award. In 2007, their production of Back Home received honorable mention at the NYMF Awards for "Best of Festival" and "Excellence in Lyrics."

Other musicals to move forward include productions of The Tragic And Horrible Life Of The Singing Nun, Like You Like It, Top Of The Heap at NYMF and productions of Wanda's World, Cupid And Psyche, Abie's Island Rose, The Arc (Off-Broadway) Patsy Cline, Theory of the Leisure Class (regionally) and the upcoming Next To Normal (formerly Feeling Electric) at 2nd Stage in New York. Musical Mondays has presented works by writers such as Amanda Green and Tom Kitt (High Fidelity) and Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx (Avenue Q). Musical Mondays 2007-8 season is in residence at the Snapple Theatre Center, current home of The Fantasticks and the record breaking thriller Perfect Crime.
