Music Of Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon To Be Performed In NY 5/13, 5/14
Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, Artistic Director of the contemporary chamber ensemble Eastman BroadBand, was recently named a 2011 Pulitzer Prize finalist in Music for Comala, a scenic cantata based on Mexican author Juan Rulfo's novel Pedro Páramo. The recording was released in June 2010 by Bridge Records and was referred to by the Pulitzer committee as "an ambitious cantata that translates into music an influential work of Latin American literature, giving voice to two cultures that intersect within the term ‘America.'" Comala appears on the recording Cantos, and features the Eastman BroadBand ensemble. Zohn-Muldoon will be in New York with Eastman BroadBand, for two consecutive performances: May 13th at the Americas Society and May 14th at Symphony Space's Sonidos Wall to Wall Festival.
"I feel honored to have been selected as a finalist for the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in Music," said Mr. Zohn-Muldoon, "I am delighted that it was for Comala, a deeply personal composition as well as a tribute to a work of literature that I revere."
