Metropolitan Opera Announces OTELLO Cast Change Advisory: 10/16

Avgust Amonov will sing the title role in this evening's performance of Verdi's Otello, replacing Johan Botha, who is ill.

The Russian tenor made his Met debut last Saturday, October 13, as Otello. He also recently sang the role at the Lithuanian National Opera. He performs frequently with St. Petersburg's Mariinsky Opera, where his recent roles have included Don Alvaro in Verdi's La Forza del Destino, Radamès in Verdi's Aida, and The Emperor in Richard Strauss's Die Frau ohne Schatten.

Otello, conducted by Semyon Bychkov, also stars Renée Fleming as Desdemona, Falk Struckmann as Iago, and Michael Fabiano as Cassio.
