Meg Mullins, Author Of The Rug Merchant, To Read At Libertine Library
Quick, before the movie comes out-meet Meg Mullins, author of the acclaimed book The Rug Merchant, whose film rights were recently acquired by Fox Searchlight Pictures. Mullins, who resides in New Mexico, will be reading in lower Manhattan from her eagerly anticipated new novel (Dear Strangers) along with local authors Mark Shulman (Scrawl) and Rachel Sherman (The First Hurt) at the Pen Parentis Literary Salon. Pen Parentis, the sponsor of this open arts event series, is a local organization that provides resources to authors who are also parents.
On Tuesday, February 9th, from 6pm to 8pm, in the stunningly appointed Libertine Library at Gild Hall (15 Gold Street at Platt, second floor) this trio of remarkable authors will each read from their works and sign books. Borders will be accepting credit cards and cash for any purchases. Pen Parentis founders, local authors M. M. De Voe and Arlaina Tibensky, will then lead these three incredible authors in discussing how parenthood has affected their successful literary careers. Full bar is available at happy hour prices from the private, upstairs bartender.
Admission is free. Donations warmly accepted. For more information consult the Pen Parentis website at www.penparentis.org.
The Pen Parentis Reading Series is made possible in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. It also was funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. with public funds from The New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
