Tony Award-nominee Matthew Morrison has been cast as Adam Munson in the popular long-running CBS soap opera "As the World Turns."

The actor, whose recent Broadway credits include The Light in the Piazza and A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, will be the fourth actor to play the contract role.  His first episode will air on October 24th.

Tony-nominated for his performance as Fabrizio in The Light in the Piazza, Morrison created the role of Link in Hairspray, and has also been seen on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show and Footloose. He also played Sir Harry in the Disney television musical version of "Once Upon a Mattress."

"Set in the closely-knit community of Oakdale, IL, the show centers on the complex lives of the Hughes, Montgomery, Ryan, Snyder, Stewart and Walsh families. In April 2005, 'As the World Turns' celebrated its 49th Anniversary," according to CBS notes.
