Marymount Manhattan College To Present EVELYN

The Musical Theatre Association at Marymount Manhattan College presents Evelyn, an original work with book, music, and lyrics by Quenton Ellis, directed by Heather Bildman. The production will be choreographed by Michelle E. Carter. Rounding out the creative team is Maggie Harrigan as the production stage manager and Rikki Ziegelman as the assistant director.

Based on the iconic photo published in the New York Times titled "The Most Beautiful Suicide," Evelyn follows the life of Evelyn McHale, who tragically took her life by jumping off of the Empire State Building in 1947. Both heart wrenching and heart warming, Evelyn touches upon themes of feminism, family, and sexuality- while also carefully depicting the cautious affects of mental illness in the 1940's.

This new work is being brought to life by the Musical Theatre Association- a student run club at Marymount Manhattan College. With a cast of 16 and a creative team of 5, the show is being completely written, directed, choreographed, produced, and performed by students. The cast features Jessica Dowling (Evelyn), Rosie Tyler (Helen), Michael Whitty (Barry), Lara Taylor (Wanda), Conner Hefner (Gertrude), Taylor Newsom (Paul), Cody Ayrer (Jack), Layne Seaman (Evelyn's Mother), Caroline McQuaig (Dorothy), and David Morales (Donny). The ensemble features Maddie Booth, Rachel Casteñeda, Ronell Hurt, Logan Mace, George Massood, and Sean O'Donnell.

Evelyn runs February 10th (8pm) and February 11th (2pm and 7pm). Tickets will be available on Eventbrite. If sold out, there will be a waitlist on the day of each performance.
