Mary Faber will succeed Stephanie D'Abruzzo as the sweet Kate Monster and the saucy Lucy T. Slut in Avenue Q.

Faber will begin performances in the musical on December 26th. The Tony Award-nominated D'Abruzzo, who has been with Avenue Q since its 2003 opening, is departing the show to begin an off-Broadway run in the musical I Love You Because.

Faber, who was previously seen in the title role of the TheatreWorks musical Junie B. Jones, has also been seen off-Broadway in Slut and in The Tutor.

Avenue Q blends puppets and people in a charmingly R-rated tale of friendship, love, sex and the search for purpose. The show opened on Broadway at the John Golden Theatre on July 31st 2003 and won Tony Awards for Best Book (by Jeff Whitty) and Best Score (by Robert Marx and Jeff Lopez), currently stars Barrett Foa and Christian Anderson, and original stars D'Abruzzo, Jennifer Barnhart, Natalie Venetia Belcon, Jordan Gelber, and Ann Harada.  John Tartaglia, who originated the roles of Princeton and Rod on Broadway, recently headlined the current Las Vegas production. On December 22nd, Avenue Q will celebrate its 1000th performance.
