Broadway vet Martin Sheen will take the stage as 'Don Quixote' in a one-night-only benefit production of the musical MAN OF LA MANCHA tonight, November 27, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Pepperdine's Center for Faith and Learning.

Sheen made his Broadway debut in NEVER LIVE OVER A PRETZEL FACTORY and went on to appear in THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES, which earned him a Tony nomination in 1965, as well as DEATH OF A SALESMAN, THE CRUCIBLE and LOVE LETTERS. Among his other stage credits are off-Broadway's JULIUS CAESAR, HELLO AND GOODBYE, ROMEO AND JULIET, HAMLET and THE WICKED COOKS.

As far as we can tell, this will be Sheen's first musical!

The actor is well known for his portrayal of 'President Josiah Bartlet' in Aaron Sorkin's long-running TV drama THE WEST WING. He has starred in the films BADLANDS, APOCALYPSE NOW, GETTSYBURG, THE DEPARTED, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and more, and can currently be seen in the new TV series GRACE AND FRANKIE.

MAN OF LA MANCHA, with book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh, debuted on Broadway in 1965 and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show has since seen four Broadway revivals.

The story, based on Miguel de Cervantes' DON QUIXOTE and Wasserman's I, DON QUIXOTE, centers on the mad knight as he performs a play by Cervantes with his fellow inmates as he waits for his hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. One of the most iconic tunes from the musical is "The Impossible Dream."

Peter Torsiello serves as musical director for MAN OF LA MANCHA at Pepperdine. Proceeds from the starry evening will go toward Our Lady of Malibu School. Click here for tickets and more information.
