Mannes School of Music to Celebrate Centennial with Lincoln Center Concert

The Mannes Centennial begins with Mannes alumna and renowned conductor JoAnn Falletta leading the Mannes Orchestra in a concert of works featuring current and former Mannes faculty members and alums on Wednesday, October 26th, at 7:30pm at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. The concert is free.

Repertoire includes Paul Moravec's (Mannes Faculty) Cello Concerto with soloist Jeffrey Zeigler (Mannes Faculty); Bohuslav Martinu's (Mannes faculty member from 1948-1956) Frescos of Piero della Francesca; and Carl Nielsen'sSymphony No. 4.

The concert launches a year-long series of events which will culminate with a final concert at Carnegie Hall in April. This event will join the past, present, and the future, celebrating achievements of the past 100 years while also looking toward to the next 100. A complete program, including special guests, performers, and the host for the evening, will be announced in the near future.

JoAnn Falletta is the Music Director for the Buffalo Philharmonic. Renowned as a strong advocate and mentor for young professional and student musicians, she has previously established a unique collaboration between the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Mannes School of Music. She has enjoyed great success working with young musicians and guest conducting the orchestras of many conservatories across the country.
