Manhattan Theatre Source's 2014 EstroGenius Festival to Run 10/2-11/1; Artists Announced

Manhattan Theatre Source announces the playwrights, solo artists, and choreographers for their 15th Annual EstroGenius Festival, a multimedia performance festival showcasing female voices from a variety of disciplines, running October 2-November 1 at Stage Left Studio (214 West 30th Street between 7th and 8th Avenue) and the 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). In addition to short plays, one-woman shows, and dance pieces the festival will also feature a visual art exhibit and a special performance by Girl Be Heard. Performance schedules and directors will be announced in September. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, September 2nd.

The 2014 short plays will feature remounted EstroGenius favorites, A Place for Owls by Fiona Jones (from 2006), G Train Exodus by Jessica Fleitman (from 2010), Goodbye, Avis by Celeste Koehler (from 2011), Overnight by Natalie Bates (from 2009), Maid's Door by Cheryl Davis (from 2004), Parkersburg by Laura Jacqmin (from 2008), Glutton for Punishment by Catherine Noah (from 2011), Snow White Zombie by Brent Lengel (from 2010), and I Have It by Bekah Brunstetter (from 2007) along with brand new plays by Vivian Neuwirth, Kathryn Zaniboni, Holli Harms, Lisa Bruna, Andrea Clardy, and Connie Schindewolf.

This year's Sola Voce will feature The Wildflower Garden - An Acquired Taste written and performed by Jane Bennett, There's Iron in Your Future written and performed by Mindy Pfeffer, Downtown Mermaid written and performed by Catherine Boruch, Music for Dogs written by Paula Meehan and performed by Katherine O'Sullivan, Dear Susan written by Roxann Mtjoy and performed by Shay Roman, Chore Boots written and performed by Janet Schlapkohl, The Tinder Scrapbooking Love Guru Victoria written and performed by Cat Migliaccio, The Hoodwink written and performed by Melanee Murray, It's Not My Decision written and performed by Wolf C.R., Overheard written and performed by Kirya Traber, and The Big Giant Bookstore written and performed by Barbara Suter.

Women in Motion 2014 Commissioned Choreographers are Deborah Lohse, Maura Donahue/InMixedCompany and Zoe Rabinowitz. Each of these powerhouse dance makers is creating a dance work, culminating in WiM performances May 2015. They will be showing sneak peaks of the works during EstroGenius on the Women in Motion evening, October 25, 2014.
