The revolutionary I-Caption System has gone live at Broadway's smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! Until recently, the deaf and hard of hearing who require special signed performances to experience live theatre have faced challenges and restrictions attending a Broadway show. I-Caption®, the new individual captioning system from Sound Associates, Inc., allows deaf patrons to be as spontaneous as any theatergoer in experiencing the story-telling magic of Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' MAMMA MIA!

I-Caption is the latest innovation in assistive technology employing a handheld wireless unit that displays dialogue and lyrics in real time text from any seat in the house.

The I-Caption system features a proprietary handheld unit that displays the text of the entire show verbatim, including lyrics and dialogue. The text is automated and synchronized with sound and lighting cues to accommodate pacing variations from performance to performance. A polarized screen keeps nearby patrons from being distracted by light or moving text.

In addition to I-Caption, Sound Associates' ShowTrans, the automated multilingual commentary service for non-English speaking audiences, is also currently available at MAMMA MIA! in Spanish, Portuguese, German and Japanese.

To reserve I-Caption call 212-582-7678 in advance or pick up a unit free of charge at the Infrared Listening System distribution in the theatre lobby.

MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, is playing at the Cadillac Winter Garden Theater, (1654 Broadway at 50th Street).
