Macy's Thanksgiving Day SHREK Balloon Installed

Broadway In Chicago, Macy's State Street and SHREK THE MUSICAL are proud to welcome a weekend addition to the Theatre District. This Saturday and Sunday, families can get a special treat and see the one and only Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Shrek Balloon as Macy's welcomes the First National Tour of SHREK THE MUSICAL to Chicago.

The Shrek balloon will be installed Friday, July 23 and be on view to the public July 24 - 25. The 44 foot high balloon will take over 10,000 cubic feet of helium and will be on view in the North Light Well (Handbags Dept) and extend well to the 7th floor of the department store.

In addition to Macy's bringing in Shrek for the weekend, Macy's is proud to host the opening night party following the performance on July 25. This exclusive event will host the cast and guests as they celebrate the kick off of the First National Tour of SHREK THE MUSICAL. Macy's will also host a Shrek-tacular Family Fun Day on Saturday July 31 and feature live appearances by some of the favorite fairy tale creatures of Far, Far Away.

The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning SHREK THE MUSICAL launches its First National Tour in Chicago at the Cadillac Palace Theatre on Sunday, July 25. It will play a limited engagement through September 5, 2010. SHREK THE MUSICAL tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren't only found in fairy tales.
