Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA, the new play by Amanda Peet, directed by MTC's award-winning artistic director Lynne Meadow, begins rehearsals today. The limited engagement will start previews Tuesday, October 22 and open Thursday, November 21 at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

The production stars Emmy and Tony award winner Blythe Danner, Zoe Levin (The Way Way Back), Ali Marsh ( "In Plain Sight"), Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield), and Nilaja Sun (No Child...).

Judith (Blythe Danner) has been divested of her assets and forced to leave her luxurious New York life after her husband's Wall Street scam became headline news. When her daughter Becca (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Becca's filmmaker boyfriend (Michael Stahl-David) pay Judith a visit to the one bedroom condo Judith now occupies in Pensacola, Florida, everyone's motives are called into question. How will past and present circumstances inform how this family moves into the future?

THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA is an incisive and funny new play about trying to love your family even when you hate what they've done.

This new play marks the reunion of Danner and Parker who previously starred together in MTC's 1995 hit production Sylvia by A.R. Gurney.

The creative team for THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA includes Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Tom Broecker (costume design), Jason Lyons (lighting design), Jill BC Du Boff (sound design), and Thomas Schall (fight director).

Lead support for THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA is provided by MTC's Producing Fund Partner, Andrew Martin-Weber. Special thanks to The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust for supporting Manhattan Theatre Club. Additional support for THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA is provided by The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation.

THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA is presented as part of MTC's 2013-2014 season, joining the previously announced world premiere productions of THE SNOW GEESE by Sharr White, directed by Daniel Sullivan with Mary-Louise Parker, Danny Burstein, Victoria Clark, Evan Jonigkeit, Brian Cross, Christopher Innvar and Jessica Love; OUTSIDE MULLINGAR by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Doug Hughes with Brían F. O'Byrne and Debra Messing; CASA VALENTINA by Harvey Fierstein, directed by Joe Mantello; TALES FROM RED VIENNA by David Grimm, directed by Kate Whoriskey; WHEN WE WERE YOUNG AND UNAFRAID by Sarah Treem, directed by Pam MacKinnon with Cherry Jones; and TAKING CARE OF BABY by Dennis Kelly, directed by Erica Schmidt with Reed Birney, Kristen Bush, Amelia Campbell and Margaret Colin.
