MISS SAIGON Chaperone Beatrice Louise Dickman Swarm Dies at 92
Broadway chaperone Beatrice Louise Dickman Swarm passed away on February 13 at the age of 92. She died in her home in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania surrounded by family. 'Mrs. Bea,' as she was commonly referred to by theatre colleagues, worked backstage as an educational consultant at MISS SAIGON for many years.
Swarm was born in Moline, Illinois on March 10, 1918. A graduate of Decatur High School, Swarm earned a bachelor of arts in early education from MacMurray College in 1940. Additionally, she received an M.S. in supervision of teaching from Illinois State University.
Acting as an educator around the country for most of her life, Swarm was a member of the American Council on Education, and a volunteer at the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office, Unitarian Universalist Metro District, and BookPALS: Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools.
Swarm is survived by her two children, David Clarkson McJonathan and SallyAnn Feneran, as well as her 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in New York City on May 22, 7 PM at the Unitarian Church of All Souls, (1157 Lexington Ave. at 80th Street, New York City, NY)
