You may remember how Menopause the Musical® unexpectedly became off Broadway's "Hottest" Musical back in 2002. Well get ready for a fully produced professional production to come to Port Washington's Landmark on Main Street Theater. This will be New York State's and Long Island's only production of the show, billed The Hilarious Celebration of Women and The Change which will begin July 9th. If you were lucky enough to see the show in Manhattan, you know how much you and your friends will enjoy seeing this timeless and hilarious production about four women who meet by chance at a lingerie sale at Bloomingdale's only to discover all of their very different lives are connected by the same force: Menopause.

To add to the good news, the production will feature one of Long Island's favorite actresses, Lydia Gladstone. When she is not on stage either Off Broadway or around the country-she hangs her hat in Greenlawn, Long Island. A true Long Islander, Lydia grew up in Levittown and received her education at Hofstra University, New York University and SUNY at Stony Brook. "I'm absolutely thrilled to be part of this production-and appearing in a theatre where friends and family can actually come and see me---right here on Long Island! "

The show's author Jeanie Linders, inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, penned this hysterical tribute to women undergoing "The Change." She knowingly re-lyricizes songs every baby boomer will recognize to help her laugh at the symptoms that are associated with Menopause. Classics such as "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever" from the disco movie "Saturday Night Fever" become "Stayin' Awake" and "Night Sweatin'." The four-woman cast spends 90 minutes singing, dancing and inducing side-splitting laughter. Menopause The Musical ® is more than humor, however. The attitudes of the characters are inspiring. They fan themselves, they race to the bathroom, they pause in mid-sentence because they've forgotten their next thought. By singing "I've Got A New Attitude," they demonstrate resilience and spirit.

Menopause The Musical® is being performed through Aug. 30th at Port Washington's Landmark Theatre on Main Street Theaters (232 Main St. Port Washington Tickets are $45, group discounts available.
