According to the Stage, due to an underground, electrical fire in central London, a slew of West End shows will cancel performances tonight. Productions forced to cancel include: Beautiful, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Lion King, and The Play that Goes Wrong.

The Holborn fire, which is currently being faught by 70 firefighters, has caused at least 2000 people to evacuate the area. The BBC reports that Gary Squires of London Fire Brigade said: "We have some very high-powered cables down there which is causing a hazard to our crews. We can see flames coming out of the pavement which looks quite dramatic, but that is the gas pipe - it has now ruptured and that has now ignited and the gas is burning off and that, if anything, makes it safer for us as the gas is being burnt off."

Whether the fire will affect any of tomorrow's scheduled performances is still to be determined.

Matinees for both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Lion King were cancelled mid-performance due to electrical problems caused by the fire. A Savoy Theatre representative reportedly confirmed that there is currently no power in the building, but they are unsure whether Gypsy will be performed as usual tonight.
