On October 10th, 2008 Live at the Hudson Theatre NYC presents a benefit evening celebration for acclaimed modern dance company Doug Varone and Dancers, with the legendary icon of Broadway, film and television, Betty Buckley, accompanied by the renowned American Jazz pianist, Kenny Werner.  The evening will take place at the historic Hudson Theatre in the Millennium Hotel, located in the heart of Times Square.

The evening will pair the extraordinary talents of Betty Buckley and Doug Varone.  The Company will take the stage at 7:30 with one of Varone’s signature works, the propulsive Rise.  Created in 1993, Rise makes its way back to the stage for this special evening. This explosive work, set to John Adams’ Fearful Symmetries explores a cacophony of movement that delves deep into Adams’ wonderfully cinematic score.  Ms. Buckley will sing favorites leading up to the culmination of a final onstage collaboration with the Company Dancers.

The Honorary Committee for this event includes:  Joseph V. Melillo, Molissa Fenley, Peggy Baker, Beverly D’Anne, Charles Reinhart, Laura Faure, John Jasperse, Merce Cunningham, Lawrence Rhodes, Wendall Harrington, Paul Taylor, and Meredith Monk.
