Lincoln Center Announces Outdoor Summer Programs

Lincoln Center celebrates the summer with the return of its two popular outdoor programs of music and dance, Midsummer Night Swing (July 8—26) and Lincoln Center Out of Doors (August 7—24). Because of the Center's commitment to presenting these popular community events, due to the ongoing construction on Josie Robertson Plaza, both will take place in Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park, W. 62nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue, with Out of Doors having additional performances on the South Plaza (W. 62nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenue).

 

SWING Highlights Include

Performing for the First Time: Nelly McKay & The Aristocrats Swing Band

US Debuts of Orquestra Tίpica Imperial from Buenos Aires and La Troba Kung-Fú from Barcelona

New York Debut of "el Rey del Rumba Catalan" Peret and Chicago's Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra

New genres include Go-Go, Balkan brass band, underground club music and rumba Catalan

 

OUT OF DOORS Highlights Include

Wordless Music: 800 Years of Minimalism features World and U.S. premieres

U.S. Premiere of Armitage Gone! Dance and Burkina Electric's Summer of Love

New York debut of Still Black, Still Proud: An African Tribute to James Brown

25th Anniversary of Roots of American Music celebrates music of New Orleans, as well as R&B, Bluegrass

Closing night features debut of Charlie Haden's All-Star traditional country project and Patti Smith
