The Limon Dance Company will present its first New York season under the leadership of artistic director Colin Connor, May 2-7 at The Joyce Theater. In a recent newsletter, Connor, a former Limon soloist, noted that his "first six months with the Company and Foundation have been a whirlwind of rehearsals, reconstructions, tours, performances, and workshops. It has been a joy to work with these dancers," adding "Everyone in our community believes in how Limon's art illuminates, inspires, and unites. The social consciousness in this work is more than ever necessary."

Following performances in Pennsylvania, Los Angeles, and at Kent State U, the Company will present two different programs at The Joyce. Featured during the season will be Kate Weare's intense "Nightlight," and Connor's biting "Corvidae," set to music by Phillip Glass.

The Jose Limon works on the season have all been set by former Limon dancers who bring new life to the works:

"Concerto Grosso," set by Risa Steinberg;

"Chaconne," set by Gary Masters, with live music;

"The Exiles," danced to a new score by Alessandra Vrabalov, featuring six singers;

and more.
