Performances of THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE, Academy Award-winner Martin McDonagh's acclaimed new play, directed by Wilson Milam, begin tomorrow night, Wednesday, April 19 at 8pm at Broadway's Lyceum theatre (149 West 45th Street). The official opening night is Wednesday, May 3. The Atlantic Theater Company production played a sold-out run at the Atlantic and was just nominated for four Lucille Lortel Awards: Outstanding Play, Outstanding Direction (Wilson Milam), Outstanding Actor (David Wilmot) and Outstanding Featured Actor (Domhnall Gleeson).

THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE received some of the best reviews of the year: The New York Times' Ben Brantley: "Criminally funny. Appallingly entertaining." USA Today's Elysa Gardner: **** (4 stars out of 4) "Briskly compelling. McDonagh, as is his wont, finds brilliant comedy in the blackest of places and slips us food for thought even as he's wildly entertaining us." The New York Post's Frank Scheck: "Ruthlessly funny. Acted to perfection by the truly brave cast and directed for full visceral effect by Wilson Milam, the production is not for the squeamish, but it does offer absurdity of the highest order." The New York Daily News' Howard Kissel: "If Monty Python had ever tackled the issue of Irish terrorism, they might have created something as wild, as brilliant and as weirdly exhilarating as The Lieutenant of Inishmore." The Associated Press' Michael Kuchwara "Fans of Tarantino will feel right at home. Blisteringly funny." The Wall Street Journal's Terry Teachout: "Playgoing doesn't get any better than this." And, the New York Observer's John Heilpern: "Perfect. The best bloody play I ever saw."

Set on a lonely island, this most surprising new work chronicles the shockingly funny events that come to pass when someone kills Wee Thomas, the beloved cat of an Irish Liberation Army enforcer. It all builds to a stunning surprise that has audiences laughing in disbelief at every performance. (Can you keep a secret? Don't reveal the ending once you've seen the show!)

The cast of THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE features Jeff Binder as James, Andrew Connolly as Christy, Dashiell Eaves as Joey, Peter Gerety as Donny, Domhnall Gleeson as Davey, Brian d'Arcy James as Brendan, Alison Pill as Mairead and David Wilmot as Padraic.

Domhnall Gleeson and David Wilmot are appearing with the permission of Actors' Equity Association pursuant to an exchange program between American Equity and UK Equity.
