Landmark on Main Street welcomes back Broadway’s Tony Award-winning star Brian Stokes Mitchell to the Jeanne Rimsky Theater on Saturday, November 8, 2008, in a special performance debuting his new show “Songs I Want to Sing” for Landmark’s 14th Annual Spotlight Gala 2008.  A unique Five-Star Tasting Reception of sweets and savories follows the concert in the Spotlight Club – an enormous, celebratory tent that will be set in front of the theater for Landmark’s most important fundraising event of the year.  Hosted by author and Port Washington resident Susan Isaacs, the festivities will honor two former Co-Presidents of the board, Nancy Federlein and Joseph Labenson, and long-standing friends of Landmark: Anne & Vincent Mai.

The New York Times dubbed Brian Stokes Mitchell, “Broadway’s Last Leading Man.”  He is the quintessential performing artist live on stage and on both large and small screens.  From his Carnegie Hall performance in “South Pacific” that aired on PBS’ Great Performances and his subsequent sold-out solo debut there, to his multiple award-winning Broadway performances in “Kiss Me Kate,” “Man of La Mancha,” “Ragtime,” “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “Jelly’s Last Jam” among others, “Stokes” is a stunning presence and a true friend of Landmark.
