LOVE NEVER DIES Cast Album Tops Chinese Charts
The Asian edition of the LOVE NEVER DIES album reached number one in China this week, Andrew Lloyd Webber announced on andrewlloydwebber.com. The album includes Chinese soprano Liping Zhang's Mandarin version of the title song.
Lloyd Webber recently met Zhang, along with Korea's Sumi Jo and Ayaka Hirahara, both of whom recorded versions of 'Love Never Dies' in their country's languages.
As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the cast album for LOVE NEVER DIES premiered on the UK National charts at Number 10, the production announced today. Of those international markets where the album has been released it has also charted well, such as in Greece (Number 1), Taiwan (Number 14), New Zealand (Number 8) and Denmark (Number 15). Today, Billboard reports that the LOVE NEVER DIES album is the Number 1 selling cast album of the week, beating out staples Wicked and Jersey Boys in the top spot.

LOVE NEVER DIES opened 9 March in London at the Adelphi Theatre and here's some footage from the opening night gala! Previews began on 22 February. LOVE NEVER DIES stars Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo, and features direction by Jack O'Brien. The show is scheduled to open in New York in 2011 and in Australia thereafter.
LOVE NEVER DIES continues the story of 'The Phantom', who has moved from his lair in the Paris Opera House to haunt the fairgrounds of Coney Island, far across the Atlantic. Set 10 years after the mysterious disappearance of 'The Phantom' from Paris, this show is a rollercoaster ride of obsession and intrigue...in which music and memory can play cruel tricks...and 'The Phantom' sets out to prove that, indeed, LOVE NEVER DIES.
In celebration of the opening, Decca Broadway announced that it will release two versions of the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical LOVE NEVER DIES. The release of both, a regular and deluxe edition, will be made available March 9th.
Both versions of the CD will be two-disc sets, with the deluxe version including a DVD as well.
