LATEA Comes Back With A Ioenesco's Classic

"The Lesson," Eugène Ionesco's Theater of The Absurd classic, receives a new production at Teatro LATEA in Manhattan beginning Friday, February 16. Directed by Gama Valle, this multiracial production of "The Lesson" is the first installment of Teatro LATEA's new producing initiatives.

The show's two-week engagement plays through Sunday February 25. Opening night is Friday, February 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets are now on sale through www.smarttix.com.

In "The Lesson," a hopeful young girl looks for a better education, but in her small town there is only one person who can help her to reach her goal: an old teacher with a secret. In a thriller-like world, this Ionesco classic of the Theater of The Absurd makes you ask yourself: Why? How is this possible? And could this happen at home?

The cast includes Pilar Gonzalez, Brian Kelly and Danie Steel. The production design team includes Omayra Garriga-Casiano (set design/lighting); Karim Rivera-Rosado (costumes); Zuleinette Ralat(stage manager), and Disanto Díaz (sound).

"The Lesson" performs from Friday, February 16 through Sunday, February 25 at LATEA Theatre, at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center, 107 Suffolk Street (between Rivington and Delancey Streets). Performances (a total of 8) are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Tickets, which are $10 for students and $15 for general audience, are now on sale and can be purchased in advance by visiting www.smarttix.com.
