Producer Michael Jackowitz announced today that the critically-acclaimed Los Angeles Premiere of the Rubicon Theatre Production of tick...tick...BOOM!, Jonathan Larson's autobiographical pop rock musical has extended through Sunday, July 30 at the Coronet Theatre, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd. in West Hollywood.

tick…tick…BOOM! has book, music and lyrics by Larson, who posthumously won the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for RENT.  David Auburn (Pulitzer Prize for Proof), was called by Larson's family to complete the script for tick…tick…BOOM! after Larson's death.  Direction is by Scott Schwartz (winner of Outer Critics Circle and Lortel Awards and director of the acclaimed New York and London productions).  Choreography is by Christopher Gattelli (Lortel Award for Altar Boyz and Bat Boy and Drama Desk Nominee), and musical direction is by Brent Crayon (Ovation nominee for Rubicon's Songs for A New World).  David Farley is the set and costume designer, while the show has lighting design by Jeremy Pivnick and sound design by Drew Dalzell.

"Before writing the Broadway blockbuster RENT,  Jonathan Larson penned a small pop rock musical about his relationship with his girlfriend and best friend, his struggles as a young composer, and his desire to 'make it' by his 30th birthday. Jonathan suddenly died of an aneurism after the final dress rehearsal of RENT, but both RENT and his own story, tick…tick…BOOM!, live on," state press notes.

The production stars Wilson Cruz (RENT on Broadway) as Michael, Andrew Samonsky (national tour of On the Record) as Jon and Tami Tappan Damiano (Miss Saigon on Broadway) as Susan.

"tick…tick…BOOM! is an intimate, three-person musical that tells of Jonathan Larson's early days as a struggling artist in SoHo. It's the week of Jonathan's 30th birthday. His girlfriend wants to get married (tick), his best friend is working on Madison Avenue and moving uptown (tick) and Jonathan is still waiting tables and trying to write the great American musical before time and, unbeknownst to him, life, passes by (BOOM!).  tick... tick…BOOM! is a pop rock musical about daring to hope, living life fully, and finding the courage to chase your dreams."

Performances are Wednesdays at 8:00pm; Thursdays at 8:00 pm; Fridays at 8:00 pm; Saturdays at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm.  All tickets are $49.50 and may be purchased through the Coronet Box Office (310) 657-7377, or through TicketMaster (by phone, at area outlets, and online at www.ticketmaster.com).

In the spirit of Larson's RENT, 20 front row seats are set aside each night at $20. Friday evenings are "The Scene at tick…tick…BOOM!" with tickets for audience members in their 20's or younger only $20; tickets for those in their 30's are $30. After the Friday show, the actors come out to the lobby and a computer and digital camera is set up for photos with the cast and for audience members to blog or e-mail their friends about the show. The party atmosphere continues with 2-for-1 drinks on Fridays at the Coronet Pub. Tickets for these special promotions are only available through the Coronet Box Office directly.
