Who better to help the ACME COMEDY THEATRE introduce the LIQUID RADIO PLAYERS to their newly renovated stage than veteran 1940 Radio personalities Rose Marie and Dick Van Patten. Currently spotlighted by the recent Emmy nom for "The Dick Van Dyke Reunion Special," in the 1940's "Baby" Rose Marie was the top singing talent nationwidethe girl with the grown up voice. Dick Van Patten was the reigning child sensation, starring in 11 hit radio programs and series including "Let's Pretend," "Young Widow Brown," "Eddy Cantor," "Kate Smith Hour," NBC's "Coast to Coast" and a command performance from the White House for President Truman of "Father of the Bride" with Spencer Tracey, Elizabeth Taylor and Joan Bennett.
Imagine you're in a 1940's radio station, everything's live, there are no retakes, and to make things worse no script! That is the dilemma facing this remarkable troupe of comedians called LIQUID RADIO PLAYERS as lines pile on lines, gags on gags, doors open and close with uncontrolled, unscripted and uncensored timing. Improv comedy is one of the most difficult kinds of theater. Done broadly it dies, played with reserve it just bleeds. Anyone who attempts this time honored form of entertainment has to know their business. Fortunately under the company direction of Stan Morse, the LIQUID RADIO PLAYERS proves triumphant in their knowledge of the art.
